Standard Extension fees
Students within Australia or Online / Distance:

Why is there an extension fee?
When your enrolment is active with us, it's like occupying a seat in a classroom. There are costs associated with having active students, including:

  1. Employing our great Trainers: Educational institutions plan their staffing based on the expected number of students completing their studies within a certain timeframe. When a student extends their studies, it can disrupt the staffing allocation and lead to additional staffing requirements for the institution.
  2. Administrative & registration costs: Extending a student's study period requires additional administrative work, such as updating records and ensuring the student's ongoing compliance with the institution's policies. There are also registration fees associated with student record management. The extension fee helps cover these administrative costs and time-based expenses.
  3. Incentive & encouraging planning: Extension fees can act as an incentive for students to complete their studies within the designated timeframe. By charging extension fees, institutions encourage students to plan their academic path carefully and avoid prolonging their studies without valid reasons. If there were no extension fees, some students might be more inclined to extend their studies unnecessarily, leading to increased strain on the institution's resources.

It's important to note that in some cases, we may waive or reduce the fees for students facing exceptional circumstances that prevent them from completing their studies on time.

Study Loads & Timeframes:
You can only remain as a full-time student until the part-time duration is reached.

For example if you are a Cert IV student, then you can only remain in full-time study for a maximum of 18 months from your start of study date. Course durations for all levels can be found on the
timeframes page.

If you are extending beyond the part-time duration, then an extension fee is applicable.

Centrelink recipients - please note:
If you are receiving Centrelink study benefits, then changing to part-time might affect your eligibility to continue receiving those benefits. You may wish to stay as a full-time student, but extend your enrolment period (please note the maximum full-time enrolment periods above). If you are concerned about how your payments may be affected, we recommend you contact Centrelink to discuss your situation. It is your responsibility to inform Centrelink of any changes to your enrolment.
