Need more time?

We can help with that.

Extension Requests

The close of study date varies depending on the duration of the course. If you are unsure of your close of study date, please refer to your Confirmation of Enrolment email, contact LTi or your Trainer.

We trust that you are progressing steadily toward completing your studies by this date, and we congratulate you for your efforts. If you need more time to complete your studies, you will need to apply for an extension before your end of study date. Simply fill in the below form, and make the appropriate payment.

Standard Extension fees
Students within Australia or Online / Distance:
  • Switch from full-time to part-time = free if within the part-time enrolment time frame
  • Dual qualification students extending their Cert IV = free if within Diploma part-time enrolment time frame
  • 3 months extension - $300 upfront (or 12 x weekly payments of $32.50 = $390)
  • 6 months extension - $500 upfront (or 20 x weekly payments of $32.50 = $650)
  • 12 months extension - $800 upfront (or 30 x weekly payments of $32.50 = $975)
Extension fees are payable in advance. A full refund will apply if your extension request is not approved.

Off-shore International Students:
  • Switch from full-time to part-time = free if within the part-time enrolment time frame
3 and 6 month extension fees may differ for off-shore international students and they may be payable to your International Representative. Please contact us to discuss prior to submitting this form.

Why is there a fee for extending?
When you're actively enrolled with us, it's like occupying a seat in a virtual classroom. There are costs associated with having active students, including employing our great Trainers, who can only look after a limited number of students at one time.

Study Loads & Timeframes:
CERTIFICATE IV - If extending as a full-time student, you can only remain as a full-time student until 18 months from your start of study date. The standard part-time enrolment period for the Course is 18 months. If you are extending beyond 18 months from your start of study date then an extension fee is applicable.

DIPLOMA - If extending as a full-time student, you can only remain as a full-time student until 24 months from your start of study date. The standard part-time enrolment period for the Course is 24 months. If you are extending beyond 24 months from your start of study date then an extension fee is applicable.

Centrelink recipients - please note:
If you are receiving Centrelink study benefits, then changing to part-time might affect your eligibility to continue receiving those benefits. You may wish to stay as a full-time student, but extend your enrolment period (please note the maximum full-time enrolment periods above). If you are concerned about how your payments may be affected, we recommend you contact Centrelink to discuss your situation. It is your responsibility to inform Centrelink of any changes to your enrolment.

Transition to new TESOL qualifications
IMPORTANT NOTICE: All students extending their studies will be transitioned to the latest version of the TESOL qualifications.

In July 2022, the TESOL Courses were reaccredited by the Australian Government. This means that a new version of the courses were released. While the TESOL courses remain largely the same, the key changes between your current course and the new version is:
  • The course code and name have changed to 11021NAT - Certificate IV in English Language Teaching (TESOL) and  11020NAT - Diploma of English Language Teaching (TESOL). The qualification name change is in response to the Australian legislation, as well as the global English teaching industry. The acronym 'TESOL' is more commonly used in Australia and less commonly used in other parts of the world. The new name simplifies the core purpose and essence of the qualification.
  • The new Cert IV qualification now covers using technology to teach English as a core unit (rather than elective). This is because using technology is fastly becoming an essential skill for all English teachers, even for those delivering in person training.

All other aspects of the qualification, including practical placement, remain the same. You can read the full course information by clicking below:
  • 11021NAT - Certificate IV in English Language Teaching (TESOL)
  • 11020NAT - Diploma of English Language Teaching (TESOL)
