We even have online practical placements options available via video conferencing, with English learners based in India (adult learners) or Thailand (primary, high school or university level options). Generally these sessions take place in the early evening due to the time-zones. Alternatively, you can also choose to complete your placement in person. We may be able to connect you with a host organisation from our network or you may choose to contact a local organisation (minimum requirements apply for placement). Can I Do my Prac Overseas OR AT MY WORK?
Yes, if you find a suitable placement with an overseas institution (or are going to one of our class locations) then you can do your placement overseas.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE?

Before deciding which level is best for you, it is a good idea to consider what you ideally want to do once you finish your course, as this will affect which course is the right fit. International TESOL Certificate is for those wanting entry level English teaching skills with 9 hours of placement, and don't require a government accredited qualification. We can offer this training program for a very low price because it doesn't have the costs associated with accredited training, but it still provides the foundational, essential skills needed to teach English. Certificate IV in English Language Teaching (TESOL) is an Australian Accredited qualification (Course code 11021NAT) and is for those wanting general English teaching skills. It includes one elective unit and 12 hours of practical placement. It is one of the most popular qualifications globally and provides a solid base for someone wanting to teach English in a variety of situations. Diploma of English Language Teaching (TESOL) is close to the Cert IV in terms of popularity, but it covers a lot more. It's for those wanting English teaching skills PLUS program design and coordination skills. It's also an Australian Accredited qualification (Course code 11020NAT) and includes 20 hours of practical placement. It's the qualification that people choose when they want to maximise their employment opportunities and responsibilities (e.g. be employed in a role requiring English program design). It's a big qualification to take on, but you will also get a lot out of it. Graduate Certificate in English Language Teaching (TESOL) is for people who are wanting to further their career by completing a post graduate qualification. It is open to those who have already completed a degree or have significant industry experience in combination with a lower level qualification. It includes 60 hours of practical placement, taking place over at least 22 days to meet AMEP practical placement requirements. HOW MUCH DOES THE COURSE COST?

IS THE COURSE GOVERNMENT FUNDED?
If you are living in Victoria, then please contact us for recommendations of government funded options. The Certificate IV in TESOL is registered for Centrelink support payments such as Austudy and the Pensioner Education Supplement. We have payment plan options starting from $32.50 per week for the Certificate IV. Please note that while the Certificate IV in TESOL is listed as an approved course with Centrelink, you should enquire directly with the Department of Human Services about your own personal eligibility for Centrelink support payments and amounts. To help you along the way, there are pre-recorded training videos available 24 / 7, along with textbook content and additional learning resources. You also get allocated a distance Trainer who you can contact for support via phone, email or schedule a video call. The assessment is competency-based. This means that you will be graded as 'competent' (C) or 'not yet competent' (NYC). The pace at which you work through the course content and assessment is up to you. You need to be assessed as competent in all of the assessment tasks (including practical placement) in order to be awarded your qualification. You will be given opportunities to resubmit your assessment if it is not to a satisfactory standard. Your Trainer will also provide you with specific feedback on the areas that you need to improve. We can offer the TESOL courses to international students located off-shore, including those attending our classes in countries outside of Australia. However, we are unable to accept enrolments for students currently in Australia on a student visa. This is due to legislative restrictions on government accredited courses. Students here on visas can only be enrolled in a course with CRICOS registration (even if they already are enrolled in another primary course for their visa).
