Entry Requirements

TESOL Course
Entry Requirements
It is important that you have an adequate level of written and spoken English ability. This is not only so that you have the skills to complete the course, but also so that you can be a successful English as a Second Language teacher. 

​The entry requirements vary depending on the Course you are looking at enrolling into (see below - highest to lowest requirements).
DIPLOMA LEVEL
  • Completion of Year 12 English (pass level or higher)
  • Completion of other studies (Cert III or higher)
  • An endorsed English test (minimum IELTS 6.0 or equivalent)

CERTIFICATE IV LEVEL
  • Completion of Year 12 English (pass level or higher)
  • Completion of other studies (Cert III or higher)
  • An endorsed English test (minimum IELTS 5.5 or equivalent)

INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE LEVEL
Recommended English level:
  • Completed Year 12 English at a pass level or higher (in Australia)
  • Completion of other studies (Cert III or higher) delivered in English
  • Achieved an IELTS 5.5 or equivalent on an endorsed English test

Technology Recommendations

The TESOL Courses are online courses and you will need a computer or device with internet access in order to complete it. The course will require you to download, read and complete documents (in either PDF or Word format). 

It is recommended that you have the following: 
  • Access to a computer with the following installed:
    • Windows XP or newer 
    • Mircosoft Office or Openoffice
    • Internet browser (recommended: Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari)
  • Internet Access
  • Basic computer knowledge including:
    • How to turn a computer on and off
    • Using a mouse and keyboard
    • Ability to browse the internet
    • Ability to upload and download files
    • Basic Word document skills (including creating, typing in, and saving documents)
    • Ability to email documents as attachments
  • Access to a printer and scanner (some mobile phone apps allow scanning)

If you do not already have access to the above technology then you may find that it may be available through your local library.
