his course is specifically designed to train you to be an English Language Teacher,  some positions also require additional qualifications such as a Bachelor Degree. Because the employment requirements for positions can vary so much between different countries, regions and institutions, we highly recommend doing a job search to see what positions interest you and what employers are looking for in order to fill those positions.

Recommended Entry Requirements 

It is important that you have an good level of written and spoken English skills. This is not only so that you have the ability to complete the course, but also so that you can be a successful English as a Second Language teacher.

It is recommended that you can confidently and fluently read, write, speak and understand English before enrolling. If you struggle with any of these skills then you may want to do an English Course before undertaking this TESOL Course. 

As a guide, a person would have sufficient English skills if they have:
  • Completed Year 12 English at a pass level or higher (in Australia)
  • Completion of other studies (Cert III or higher) delivered in English
  • Achieved an IELTS 5.5 or equivalent on an endorsed English test

The TESOL Courses are online courses and you will need a computer or device with internet access in order to complete it.

Assessment Methods

The Preparatory Certificate follows a competency based assessment approach with materials presented for each topic and 2-3 quizzes required to pass a each module. The quizzes contain multiple choice, matching and true or false questions. Each quiz can be attempted multiple times to acheive the required pass rate. 

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
If you've taught English as a Second Language (ESL) before or you have existing qualifications in TESOL, then you may be eligible for full or partial Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). In general, RPL will only be available if you are able to supply evidence and documentation to support significant and successful experience. Read more about RPL...
