Benefits of Classes
Students may prefer to attend face to face classes for reasons such as:
- meeting and interacting with other people in person
- the focus on learning that comes by being present with others who are also focused on achieving the learning goals being shared by the group
- the greater range of communication options that exist because of the dynamics such as body language, spacial awareness, and other interpersonal events that facilitate the sharing of information and concepts
- the discipline and lack of distraction that occurs in a the face to face classroom environment
Practical Placement
There is a commitment required for a Practical Placement in an English as a Second Language (ESL) class. This includes observation and a minimum of 6 hours supervised practice teaching in an approved placement organisation. To attend your practical placement you may need to be willing to do things such as:
- Travel some distance each week to the organisation that you will be doing your practical placement with.
- Take some time off from work each week or for a short period sometime during your enrolment, in order to attend your practical placement.
