A: Fully Flexible Distance Delivery

You can complete the Certificate IV in TESOL at your own pace with the support of a qualfied distance facilitator to guide you through your studies.distance

  • Study anywhere you like
  • Study when it suits you
  • Study at your own pace over any 12 month period
  • No need to attend training sessions
  • Receive the support of a qualified facilitator specifically assigned to you, to dialogue throughout your training by email, video and phone calls, to give feedback on assessment items and monitor your progress.
  • Read the training manual and student readings provided to you. Each unit contains reflection questions and tasks which you can use to interact with your supervisor
  • Get the hands on experience by completing 20 hours of Practice Teaching and Observation in your local community (approved by LTI).
  • Your facilitator will also give you feedback on your lesson plans and the materials you use in class.

EasyPay Option*: Interest Free Payment Plan of a $400 deposit + 10 fortnightly payments of $180 = $2200

FastPay Option*: One payment of $2000 (a saving of $200!)

B: Flexible Delivery with Cluster Group Support

GroupGenerally Cluster Support Groups are created by a group of 4 or more friends, colleagues, family members, etc. who want to study the Certificate IV in TESOL together. If you have a group and would like to speak to LTI about how a cluster support group works, please contact us.

You'll get all the same great perks of doing the course via Distance Education plus approximately 20 hours of face to face support with a Group Facilitator. For example10 sessions of 2 hours once a week or 5 intensive days.

Self directed study is required.

C: Traditional Class Delivery

  • Approx 60 hours of face to face training
    • For Example: 
      • 20 sessions of 3 hours once a week
      • 4 weeks intensivelyTraining
  • Some Self directed study required.
  • Enrolment intakes every Semester (approx 20 weeks) or less.
  • Finish within 20 weeks or take up to 12 months to complete the Course .
  • Get the hands on experience by completing 20 hours of Practice Teaching and Observation in your local community (approved by LTI).

Training Materials

At no extra cost, you will be provided with all materials, plus a copy of TESOL Made Practical, 2nd Edition Textbook and TESOL For All Situations Textbook for you to keep. Information about the resources is available at: http://lti.edu.au/resources.aspx

Course content

To qualify for the Certificate IV in TESOL you will complete 12 core (compulsory) units, and 2 elective units (chosen from a selection of 11 electives).
You will also complete some practice teaching. You will spend about 20 hours in an ESL classroom, observing an experienced teacher and teaching your own lessons. You will prepare and deliver lessons in speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, spelling and pronunciation.

Time frame

Your enrolment in any format is valid for 12 months from your start of study date.

Assessment

Assessment for all formats is all based around your practice teaching. Your prac supervisor will observe your teaching, give feedback and complete assessment reports on your performance. You will submit your lesson plans, a copy of any materials used, your self-evaluation and prac supervisor's reports to your facilitator.
Completion of the Course in any format is dependent on you demonstrating competency in the Prac Teaching component of the Course.

You will be given multiple opportunities to "pass" the Course and will be provided with support, encouragement and guidance as you progress through the Assessment process.
