About Language Training Institute (LTi)
Language Training Institute (LTi) was formally registered in 1998 for the purpose of providing language teaching and teacher training. With a strong focus on training people to Teach English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), LTi became the first organization in Australia to gain Government accreditation for a Certificate IV in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). LTI’s TESOL Course has since been delivered to thousands of students around Australia and overseas, both to native speakers of English, and to those whose first language is not English.
The current LTi TESOL Course is comprised of 12 Core Units and a choice of 1 of 9 Elective Units which focus on a variety of specializations in TESOL (eg “Use Computers to Assist ESL Learning).
In addition to developing and refining the Accredited TESOL Course over a period of more than 10 years, LTi has produced a full suite of student and trainer publications for the delivery and assessment of the Course. These publications include student Training Manuals (Texts), Workbooks, and a Study Guide.
The LTi TESOL Course and/or materials have been used both in Australia and also overseas in China, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Iran. In addition, because our materials have been developed for both distance and classroom use, students in a variety of locations (e.g. Mongolia and Sri Lanka) have also studies our TESOL course. Most recently, these materials have been placed in the LTi TESOL On-Line Learning System.
LTi also provides web based support for all students and trainers via password access to an on-line “Student Lounge” and “Trainer Lounge”.
Regardless of the study mode (face to face, on-line, or a combination, ie “blended learning”), LTi is committed to ensuring that its graduates are backed by a comprehensive course which fully equips graduates to confidently go into classrooms all around the world and teach English.
We love our course and resources and other organisations do too! We have partners and licensees both nationally and internationally (for more information, please see the TESOL Partnerships and TESOL Licenses pages). Our course and resources are used to train people all around Australia and the world. An estimated 4,000 students have been trained by LTi or organisations using the LTi TESOL Course and/or TESOL Course publications. This has included both native and non-native speakers of English.
LTi is a not for profit organisation - We believe that teaching English to speakers of other languages can open a world of opportunity for both our graduates and their students.
LTi is a division of Universal Education and Training Ltd.
